Sodium alginate is the by-product of iodine and mannitol extracted from seaweed or sargasso of alga, and its molecules are composed of beta-d-mannituronic acid and alpha-l-gueloronic acid connected by (1→4) bond. It is a natural polysaccharide and has the stability, solubility, viscosity and safety required for pharmaceutical preparations as exipients.Sodium alginate has been widely used in food industry and medicine.

Sodium Alginate can be used as food additives, such as thickener, adhesive, stabilizer, molding agent, etc.
