Aloe-emodin is an anthraquinone compound with the chemical formula C15H10O5, which is mainly derived from Rheum palmately, Rheum tanguticum Maxim. ex Balf, or Rheum officinale Baill. ) Of dry roots and rhizomes.
Aloe-emodin is the antibacterial active ingredient of rhubarb. The bacteria that are sensitive to it are Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and diphtheria, subtilis, anthrax, paratyphoid, and dysentery, among which Staphylococcus and Streptococcus are the most sensitive. Aloe-emodin also has the function of inhibiting the biosynthesis of cancer cells' DNA, RNA, and protein.
